Veteran jockey Jeff Lloyd rode a double at Doomben on Saturday then walked away from a crashing fall in the final race.

Lloyd was riding We're Ready towards the rear and, rounding the home turn, he lost his iron.

Lloyd was dislodged, brushing Michael Cahill and Whatalovelyday on the way down and then lay motionless on the track for a short period.

Having scored on Monaco Doll and Write Cheek, Lloyd remained conscious and told stewards his leg was "a bit sore' but otherwise was fine.

Doctors reported Lloyd escaped with minor abrasions and showed no signs of losing consciousness at any stage.
