The Administrative Stewards of the Mauritius Turf Club met MTC members at a reception held this evening at the Champ de Mars. While the highlight of this evening was the handing out of cheques as part of « Opération Koud’Pouce », new President Mr. William Chung also seized the opportunity to address the members.
He stressed the fact that despite the difficult economic situation, the MTC obtained good results last year thanks to the implementation of its development strategy which includes, amongst others, the project of a new training centre and the live broadcast of races. Mr Chung also expressed his satisfaction in respect of the teamwork undertaken by MTC an dits industry partners who have been joining their efforts for a while through dialogue and concertation. He also mentioned the relooking of the Champ de Mars and the renovation of the children’s playground jointly with the Munnicipality of Port Louis. He also emphasized the interest shown by the MTC in social projects, as shown by « Opération Koud’Pouce ».
It is worth recalling that « Opération Koud’Pouce », last year’s MTC initiative in favour of underpriviledged children, was a huge success and that the sum of funds collected amounted to R 3, 391, 598. 01. This sum has tonight been equally distributed amongst 5 non-governmental organizations caring for children in need. Thus, Terre de Paix, SOS Village, Shelter for Children in Distress Trust Fund, Safire and Children Cancer Trust have received a cheque of R 678, 319. 60 each.
