GENERAL

When questioned regarding the poor performance of He’s Got Gears, jockey David explained that this gelding had pleased in the lead up to this race, as such, he expected a forward showing in the race today. He also explained that after securing a position behind the lead, his horse raced relaxed until the 600 metres where it dropped the bit and, when asked for an effort, failed to quicken and was disappointing.

GENERAL

On inquiry it was established that, after having missed the start, Desert Thief was urged forward to secure a position closer to the lead. At the same time Misty Roller and Star Of Kazan were being taken in to secure a position one off the rails resulting in Desert Thief, which had not yet secured the run on the inside of Misty Roller, becoming awkwardly placed close to the heels of the latter and, when restrained, got its head up, raced ungenerously and eventually had to be taken out. Jockey Allyhosain (Desert Thief) was advised of the danger of forcing his way into closing gaps whereas jockeys Zechner (Misty Roller) and Holland (Star Of Kazan) were told to exercise care at all times.

Captain Ram - Stood flat-footed and was slow to begin. Vet Report: Breathing noise.

GENERAL

When questioned, jockey Sooful (Oh Behave) explained that the blinkers were removed from this gelding today, as such, he was instructed if he could get to the lead without asking his mount for an effort to lead, otherwise endeavour to race where comfortable. He added that after jumping well, he found himself in the lead, however, seeing that jockey Aucharuz (Captain My Captain) was insisting for the lead, he decided to settle his mount behind the leader. When further questioned, he said in his opinion, Captain My Captain was racing too hard in the back straight and that he would have had to ask his mount for an effort to bridge the gap on the leader. He also said that although he could have asked his mount for an effort early on, he decided against doing so as, in his opinion, it would have been detrimental to its chances. He also added that by saving his mount for as long as possible, he expected it to quicken, however, when asked for an effort, it quickened over a short distance before remaining one-paced.

Result : 1st: From The Ashes, 2nd: Captain Falcon, 3rd: Captain My Captain, 4th: The Brass Bell.

Near the 200 metres, shifted in away from the whip, with jockey Aucharuz switching his whip to his right hand. Leaving the 75 metres, for some distance, shifted out away from the whip and over the concluding stages shifted back in, inconveniencing Overshadow. Jockey Aucharuz was shown video replays of this incident, and told to straighten his mounts when they shift ground in future.

Rap Attack - Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 600 metres onwards. When questioned with regard to the poor performance of this gelding, jockey Ramsamy said that he was instructed to settle his mount at the rear of the field and start his move gradually from the 1000 metres.
