At the start Jet Force jumped inwards and Amaphupho jumped outwards, with Jet Force and Amaphupho coming together shortly after. Kaboom jumped awkwardly and shifted in shortly after, brushing Traianius. Jet Force raced wide on the first turn. Leaving the 1000 metres Jet Force was allowed to improve on the outside of runners and race close to the lead. Leaving the 800 metres, when the pace slowed down, Shakleton started over-racing and when being steadied, got its head up for some distance.  Ivory Snow came off the crossing at 450 metres awkwardly. Kaboom raced wide from leaving the 450 metres. Leaving the 300 metres Traianius was taken out from behind Lord Googol to close off the race and, in doing so, carried Jet Force wider on the track. For some distance leaving the 300 metres Shakleton was held up when unable to improve from behind How Many To Won. Leaving the 250 metres Shakleton, which was attempting a run into a gap on the inside of How Many To Won, ran out of galloping room and had to be taken out from the heels of How Many To Won and later on from the heels of Amaphupho to continue going forward

Routine urine and blood specimens were taken for analysis from Lord Googol after the race.
