Following the running of this race, the Stewards sounded the inquiry sign and then viewed the videos of the final straight. It was established that leaving the 150 metres Hopes And Desires started laying in. Go Spook, which was improving into a gap between Hopes And Desires and Sovereign Service, was inconvenienced when Sovereign Service rolled out, Go Spook had to be taken out off the heels of Hopes And Desires in order to continue going forward. However, Go Spook was not making enough ground to secure the run between Hopes And Desires and Sovereign Service. Under these circumstances, correct weight was declared on the Judges’ semaphored numbers.
At the start Al Sabah stumbled, nearly dislodging its rider. Fan Mail jumped awkwardly. Leaving the 900 metres Go Spook, when being taken to race closer to the rails, carried Hopes And Desires onto Fan Mail with Fan Mail having to be steadied. Apprentice Juglall was shown the video of this incident and advised to make sure he is clear before shifting ground. Leaving the 600 metres Hopes And Desires, which was racing ungenerously, became awkward when close to the heels of Addition and threw its head when being steadied. Approaching the 300 metres Hopes And Desires, which was racing tight on the inside of Addition, rolled in and brushed the running rails. Rounding the home turn Hopes And Desires was taken out in order to obtain a clear run.
