Following the running of this race, the Stewards sounded the inquiry sign and then viewed the videos of the home straight. It was established that leaving the 150 metres Aussie Rulz had to be checked when awkward between Night Attack, which was laying in slightly, and Boozer which was being taken around Shutterfly to continue going forward. Under these circumstances, correct weight was declared on the Judges’ semaphored numbers. Apprentice Meetoo, the rider of Boozer, pleaded guilty to contravening MTC Rule 160 A. (e) by careless riding. He was subsequently suspended from riding in races for one Mauritian race meeting.
Hopes And Desires jumped very awkwardly, losing considerable ground. Torero jumped awkwardly, shifted out, contacting the hindquarters of Aussie Rulz. Torero then steadied from the hindquarters of Power Of Poseidon which lay out. Night Attack threw its head at the start. Shutterfly jumped awkwardly and shortly after the start Shutterfly and Night Attack came together. Approaching the 1200 metres Power Of Poseidon became unbalanced when close to the running rails and tight on the inside of Aussie Rulz which had been carried in by Boozer. Apprentice Meetoo was severely warned for allowing his mount to shift in. Amen, which was following, steadied. Shutterfly raced wide in the early stages when being taken to the lead. Torero raced wide from the 1000 metres. Amen continued to lay in down the back straight. Night Attack raced wide throughout. At the 1000 metres Amen ran in, brushing the running rails.
Apprentice Hoolash, the rider of Power Of Poseidon, stated from an inside barrier he was able to go forward and secure the lead on the fence, thereafter after receiving interference after the 1200 metres, his mount then failed to respond despite his urgings and was very disappointing. He added in his opinion the interference had a major bearing on the performance of the horse.
Routine urine and blood specimens were taken for analysis from Boozer after the race.
