Stewards' Report
Jockey Joorawon, who was stood down by the Club’s Medical Officer, was replaced on Tito Manolo by jockey Boutanive.Following the running of the race, the Stewards sounded the inquiry sign and at the same time considered an objection lodged by jockey Faucon, rider of Telaroyal placed 3rd, against Lucien, which finished 2nd, alleging interference over the final 100 metres. It was established that leaving the 100 metres Dougan and Telaroyal were awkward when racing tight between Golden Rambo, which was shifting out and Lucien which was shifting in and over the concluding stages Lucien shifted in, crowding Telaroyal. However, after considering the contribution from Golden Rambo leaving the 100 metres and the degree of interference over the concluding stages, the Stewards could not be satisfied that this interference exceeded the beaten margin, as such the objection was dismissed. Tito Manolo jumped awkwardly, shifted ground crowding Roman Trade onto Lucien. Lucien then shifted ground bumping Golden Rambo. Golden Seal and Telaroyal were slow to begin. Golden Rambo jumped awkwardly. Approaching the 1500 metres Tito Manolo when being steadied threw its head. Fleeing South over-raced in the early and middle stages. Up In Arms raced wide throughout. Rounding the home turn, Fleeing South which was tiring lay in crowding Tito Manolo onto the hind quarters of Lucien. Golden Rambo and Telaroyal which were following steadied. Golden Seal was taken wide from the 400 metres.
The Stewards questioned jockey Hanotel and trainer H. Maingard in relation to the handling of Golden Seal. Trainer Maingard explained the gelding was able to win when coming from last at its last start and from the outside barrier today it was decided that Golden Seal would again go back. Jockey Hanotel confirmed these instructions and explained that leaving the 500 metres he elected to improve around Benjamen Boo, however at the 300 metres had to steady Golden Seal when unable to improve between Up In Arms and Roman Trade. Then just prior to straightening he elected to come to the outside of Up In Arms, however shortly after had to steady from the heels of Up In Arms when that gelding was carried out by Roman Trade. He then decided to continue to come around Up In Arms, then in the home straight was inconvenienced when Tito Manolo shifted out. After consideration, their explanations were noted.
Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Golden Rambo prior to and after the race.
