Mc Naught reared at the start and then brushed the hindquarters of Wolfe Tone, which then shifted ground and contacted Gymnast. Deux Fabuleax was slow to begin. Lucky Colour jumped awkwardly. Shortly after the start Keep Walking and Smartelli came together. At the 1350 metres Smartelli was awkward when racing tight between Deux Fabuleax and Keep Walking, which shifted in after being awkward on the inside of Raga Muffin. Apprentice Marday, the rider of Raga Muffin, was advised to exercise more care. From the outside barrier Commodore Pete raced wide in the early stages. Raga Muffin raced wide in the early stages. Approaching the 1200 metres Deux Fabuleax steadied from the heels of Ivory Snow. At the 1200 metres Mc Naught had to be steadied from the heels of Wolfe Tone, which was crossing over in front. Leaving the 1100 metres Keep Walking when being steadied, shifted in, crowding Ivory Snow. Deux Fabuleax, which was following, steadied from the heels of Ivory Snow. Gymnast, which was also following, steadied. Jockey Rama, the rider of Keep Walking, pleaded guilty to a charge under MTC Rule 160 A (e) for careless riding and was fined Rs.20,000.
