NEWSELLS Park Stud newcomer Nathaniel has passed his first test as a stallion, with his first mare scanned in foal.

The mare in question is Petite Nymphe, a winning Golan half-sister to Poule d'Essai des Pouliches and Prix de la Foret winner Danseuse Du Soir.

Danseuse Du Soir is the dam of Group 1 Gran Criterium winner Scintillo and four-time Group 3 scorer Jumbajukiba.

Nathaniel retired to Newsells Park in Hertfordshire this year after winning four races including the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and the Eclipse.

The five-year-old also got closer than any other horse to Frankel in a race, when he finished a half-length second to the world champion in a maiden on both horses' debut.

Nathaniel can lay claim to being one of the best-bred stallions in Europe, as he is by the outstanding Galileo and is one of eight stakes winners out of Musidora Stakes scorer Magnificient Style, along with Great Heavens and Playful Act.

Newsells Park general manager Julian Dollar said: "Nathaniel has received tremendous support from breeders in his first season at stud, particularly from members of his syndicate.

"He has taken to his new career very well, but it's always something of a relief when the first mares to a new horse are safely scanned in foal."
