TOTESPORT Cesarewitch winner Darley Sun has his first run for Godolphin in Thursday's Blue Square Henry II Stakes at Sandown, the highlight of Britain's best evening meeting of the year.
On what is being billed as Super Thursday - the Blue Square-backed card also features the Group 3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes and two Listed races - Darley Sun seeks to enhance his Ascot Gold Cup credentials, a race for which he is generally 10-1.
Saeed Bin Suroor also saddles Sabotage as well as Darley Sun, and said on Wednesday: "This is Darley Sun's first race this year. He has been working nicely and the distance will be good for him.
"It's the same for Sabotage. He ran a big race last time but we are looking for better ground. They don't want fast ground and Darley Sun will improve a lot from the race."
Illustrious Blue was a game winner of the Moss Bros Sagaro Stakes at Ascot last time, while the other last-time-out winners in the £100,000 2m race are Saptapadi and Opinion Poll, although his trainer Michael Jarvis has stated the four-year-old runs only if the ground is suitable.
Jarvis relies on Weatherbys Bloodstock Racecard Earl of Sefton Stakes winner Sri Putra in the £65,000 1m2f Blue Square Brigadier Gerard.
The trainer's assistant Roger Varian said on Wednesday: "We've been very happy with his condition since the Earl of Sefton and this has been his target since then, so he has been trained for the race."
Glass Harmonium, winner of the Bet365 Gordon Richards Stakes over course and distance, is likely to provide stiff opposition, and Godolphin are double-handed in this race too, through Peligroso and Prince Siegfried.
Bin Suroor runs Big Audio in the Heron Stakes, another colt having his first outing for Godolphin, while the two-from-two Cape To Rio is likely to prove the one to beat in the National Stakes, a race trainer Richard Hannon has won for the past three years.
