Sylvester, who was beaten by Master Mascus on his debut here, has this time opened his account thanks to the good jockeyship of the Irishman. The pair beat Up Company (Geroudis) in the dying metres of the race.

Umhlanga (Stewart) fought on well to take 3rd place in front of Carson City (Woodworth).
