Following the 14th meeting on Saturday, activities on the occasion of the Bicentennial of the MTC continued today with the issuing of four new postage stamps at the “First Day Cover'' at the Central Post Office around mid-day.

The President of the MTC, Mr. Gilbert Merven, as well as the Administrative Stewards Armand Maudave and Alain Noel, as well as the General Manager, Benoît Halbwachs, and the Deputy General Manager Khalid Rawat, represented the Club on this occasion. The ceremony was also attended by the following personalities: the Minister of Information and Communication Technologies, Tassarajen Pillay Chedumbrum, the CEO of the Mauritius Post Ltd, Giandev Mooteea, and the Lord Mayor Mamade Khodabaccus, among others.

These four stamps, denominated 7, 10, 14 and 21 rupees, highlight a pack of horses racing at the Champ de Mars, an aerial view of the track, the grand stands in 1917, and the emblem of the MTC, respectively . As for the souvenir sheet, it illustrates the parade ring.

Note that this “First Day Cover” is on sale at R 85 as from today at all post offices and at the Postal Museum in Port Louis.
