Camden’s Choice was slow to begin and was then taken in to secure a position closer to the rails at the rear of the field. Approaching the 1400 metres African Dancer was slightly inconvenienced and had to steady from the heels of Man Of His Word, which was being taken in when endeavouring to secure the position closer to the rails. Near the 1300 metres, Point Of Policy became awkward when close to the heels of Mr Wolf and had to be eased. African Dancer was then taken out and allowed to improve on the outside of Man Of His Word. Bourne Supreme raced wide throughout and came off the crossing at the 800 and 450 metres awkwardly. Approaching the 400 metres Pegasus Legacy was taken out from behind African Dancer to close off the race and raced wide from then on. When put under pressure, African Dancer rolled out, and near the 300 metres carried Pegasus Legacy wider on the track, From My Heart then improved on the inside of African Dancer. Approaching the 300 metres Point Of Policy was slightly inconvenienced and had to be steadied for one stride when close to the heels of Mr Wolf. Leaving the 300 metres Mr Wolf was taken out from behind Man Of His Word, which had started to give ground and became awkward when close to the heels of From My Heart, which had improved on its outside. In this incident Mr Wolf had to be steadied over one stride. Leaving the 250 metres Point Of Policy was taken out from behind Mr Wolf to secure clear running. The Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Man Of His Word suffered a bleeding attack.
Routine urine and blood specimens were taken for analysis from From My Heart after the race.
