Dante’s Rock – Passing the 300 metres, for some distance, was held up when unable to improve from behind Mind Blowing. Leaving the 250 metres was angled out from behind Mind Blowing to secure clear running, inconveniencing Shafaaf. Had a tendency to lay in in the home straight.

Majestic Moon – Commenced awkwardly, slow into stride. Lay inwards near the 1300 metres and raced tightly shortly after.

Mind Blowing – Slow to begin. Hung in near the 150 metres. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

Shafaaf – Slow to begin. Raced tightly for a short distance passing the 1300 metres. Raced wide from the 800 metres. Leaving the 450 metres was taken out to improve its position and raced wide rounding the home turn. Inconvenienced near the 250 metres.

The Great Victory - After being loaded, became extremely fractious in its gate, putting its foot on the adjacent stall and had to be attended to. The Stewards not being satisfied with its performance in the stalls, informed Trainer J. M. Henry that the gelding will be required to pass a barrier test to their satisfaction before being allowed to race again. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

Two Moon Junction – Threw its head and jumped awkwardly, being slow to begin. Shifted in shortly after the start, momentarily crowding Patrol Mission. Leaving the 800 metres clipped the heels of Le Clos, which shifted inwards. Vet report: Lost off fore shoe.

Patrol Mission – Slow to begin. Momentarily crowded shortly after the start.

GENERAL

On inquiry, jockey Teeha (Le Clos) pleaded guilty to a charge under MTC Rule 160 A (f) in that he carelessly allowed his mount to shift in near the 750 metres when insufficiently clear, resulting in Two Moon Junction having to be eased, clipping its heels and stumbling. He was suspended from riding in races for one Mauritian race meeting.

On inquiry, jockey Ramsamy (Dante’s Rock) pleaded guilty to a charge under MTC Rule 160 A (d) in that approaching the 250 metres he failed to take the necessary steps to prevent his mount from crossing Shafaaf, resulting in it becoming inconvenienced and having to be eased. He was fined Rs.25,000.

Kemal Kavur – Jumped outwards. Bumped shortly after the start. Approaching the 1300 metres was eased to avoid the heels of Blow In The Box. Raced wide throughout. Jockey Bussunt dropped his whip approaching the 200 metres.

Perplexing – Raced wide from the 800 metres. Hung in in the home straight.

Down Under – Slow to begin.

Duke The Duke – Slow to begin and shifted out. From its wide draw was taken across to race behind runners.

Oh Behave – Leaving the 450 metres shifted out quickly and bumped Blow In The Box.

Blow In The Box – Bumped shortly after the start.

Barak Lavan – Leaving the 300 metres was taken out to improve its position and raced wide rounding the home turn.

Kalinago – Hung in in the home straight and near the 100 metres was angled outwards from behind Oh Behave to continue going forward.

Riding Shotgun – Leaving the 1100 metres commenced to over-race and passing the 1000 metres had to be eased when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Rinjani. Was unable to obtain clear running over the concluding stages.

Sky High Flyer - Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 600 metres.

Gimme Green – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out, brushing the outside of its gate and bumping Apollo Star.

Apollo Star – Forced its gate open prior to the start; the gate was quickly closed. Shortly after the start jockey Nunes readjusted his off side iron. Passing the 300 metres shifted in, momentarily crowding Riding Shotgun on its inside. Gimme Green, which was following, was eased when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Riding Shotgun.

Memphis Mafia – Threw its head, jumped awkwardly, brushing the right side of its gate and shortly after was taken across to race behind runners. Raced in restricted room near the 100 metres on the inside of Riding Shotgun.

Alaadel – Over-raced in the middle stages and leaving the 1000 metres, when being settled, got its head up for some distance.

Argun – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out, bumping Independence.

Recall To Life – Slow to begin. Could not secure a clear run in the home straight. Over the concluding stages had to be eased when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Independence.

Independence – Bumped on jumping. Over the concluding stages hung in, slightly inconveniencing Belenos.

Belenos – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out, brushing Act Of Loyalty. When being urged forward, shifted out and again brushed Act Of Loyalty. Over-raced in the middle stages. Slightly inconvenienced over the concluding stages.

Just prior to the start being effected, Zud Wes reared with the barrier attendant still having a hold of its head when the start was effected. The Stewards, being of the opinion that Zud Wes was denied a fair start, acting under MTC 144 (1), declared it a non runner. In view of this, all bets on Zud Wes were ordered to be refunded and winning bets with bookmakers were paid less 20 cents per rupee, the average price of Zud Wes being 7-2.

Nottinghamshire – Hung in in the home straight.

Ernie – Passing the 200 metres was taken out from behind Answeringenesis to secure clear running. Hung in in the home straight.

Victory Team – Hung in over the last 100 metres.

Step To Fame – Stumbled on jumping.

Answeringenesis – Dipped on jumping. When questioned regarding the poor performance of the gelding, apprentice Louis explained that after being boxed his mount became fractious and jumped only fairly, as such he could not secure the lead as it usually likes. He added that his mount over-raced on the outside of Victory Team and, when asked for an effort leaving the 300 metres, failed to quicken, being disappointing.

Belong To Me – Fractious prior to the start, jumped awkwardly and brushed the right side of its gate. Was slow to begin.

The start was delayed when the tongue-tie on Baritone became loose and had to be refitted.

Baritone – Slow into stride. Inconvenienced over the concluding stages.

Table Bay – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out. Shortly after the start had to be steadied when awkward close to the heels of Horse Guards, which had shifted in. Raced tightly in the middle stages. Raced wide throughout.

Karraar – In the middle stages, when the pace slackened, commenced to race fiercely and had to steady when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Horse Guards.

Ten Gun Salute – Leaving the 100 metres commenced to shift in away from the whip and passing the 75 metres inconvenienced Horse Guards, with jockey Rama having to steady to avoid its heels. Past the winning post attempted to savage Hard Day’s Night.

Hard Day’s Night – Slow to begin. Leaving the 1000 metres was taken out from behind Tandragee to improve its position. Leaving the 800 metres raced tightly on the inside of Table Bay.

Ready to Attack – Dipped shortly after the start.

Horse Guards – Had to be steadied near the 75 metres.

Tandragee – Slow to begin. Near the 65 metres shifted out under pressure, resulting in Baritone, which was endeavouring to improve between Tandragee and Ready To Attack, being inconvenienced.

GENERAL

On inquiry, jockey Fradd (Ten Gun Salute) was found guilty of a charge under MTC Rule 160 A (d) in that passing the 75 metres he failed to take the necessary steps to ensure that his mount did not cross Horse Guards, resulting in the latter having to steady to avoid its heels. He was fined Rs.20,000.

Baron Bellet – Slow to begin and shortly after had to be eased to avoid the heels of Tweak The Wind, which had been carried out by He’s A Keeper.
