Stewards' Report

Correct weight was withheld for the Stewards to review the video replays of the start. It was established that after being loaded, Seven Carat became fractious and broke through the front gate prematurely as the start was effected. The Stewards, acting under the provisions of MTC Rule 144 (1), deemed Seven Carat to have had an advantageous start and declared it a non starter. All bets on Seven Carat were ordered to be refunded and winning bets with bookmakers were paid less 5 cents per rupee, the average price of Seven Carat being 14/1.

Red Indy – Slow to begin. Leaving the 1300 metres, commenced to race fiercely and, when being eased to avoid the heels of Misty Roller, got its head up and raced ungenerously. Passing the 450 metres, was taken out from behind Misty Roller to improve its position and raced wide entering the home straight. Hung in in the home straight.

Spin A Coin – Slow to begin. Passing the 1000 metres, raced tight on the inside of Hit The Green for a short distance. Carried wide from the 400 metres. Hung in in the home straight.

Hit the Green - Raced wide throughout. Carried wide from the 400 metres.

Seven Carat – Broke through prematurely and shifted outwards, crowding Spun Out.

Star Of Kazan – Approaching the 400 metres, was carried out to improve its position and carried Spin A Coin and Hit the Green wider on the track.

Bear Hug – Passing the 400 metres, was taken out from behind Star Of Kazan and raced in restricted room on the inside of Spin A Coin for a short distance.

Naizak – Jumped awkwardly, throwing its head and was slow to begin. Shortly after, was taken across to race behind runners. Commenced to give ground from leaving the 500 metres and was not persevered with in the home straight.

Spun Out – Slow to begin and crowded shortly after.

Result: 1st: Misty Roller, 2nd: Bear Hug, 3rd: He’s Got Gears, 4th: Red Indy

The start was delayed when Middle Path proved difficult to load.

Melson – Jumped awkwardly and shifted ground outwards, crowding Sir Capers and was slow to begin. Passing the 1400 metres, was steadied for a stride when racing tight on the inside of Chester’s Wish.

Middle Path – Hung in in the home straight.

Netflix – Was taken out from approaching the 500 metres and raced wide from then onwards. Came together with Chester’s Wish over the concluding stages. Vet report: Lame off fore.

Redwood Valley – Passing the 450 metres, was steadied when close to the heels of Senor’s Guest. Approaching the 300 metres, for some distance, was held up when unable to improve from behind Senor’s Guest. Approaching the 200 metres, was switched to the inside of Senor’s Guest to secure clear running. Shifted ground outwards over the concluding stages.

Senor’s Guest – Leaving the 100 metres, shifted ground outwards under pressure.

Daredevil Aviator – Slow to begin. Shortly after the start raced tight onto Netflix. Raced wide throughout.

Bells Apostle – Over-raced in the middle stages. Vet report: Cast near fore shoe.

Sir Capers – Slow to begin and crowded for room shortly after. Was taken out from the 450 metres to improve its position and raced wide from then onwards.

Chester’s Wish – Jumped inwards. Hung out over the concluding stages and came together with Netflix, which shifted ground inwards marginally.

Majestic Moon – Leaving the 1450 metres, when being settled, got its head up and raced ungenerously for some distance.

GENERAL

On inquiry, jockeys Bardottier (Melson) and Sooful (Chester’s Wish) were shown the video replays of an incident passing the 1400 metres, severely reprimanded and advised to exercise care in future.

Result: 1st: Senor’s Guest, 2nd: Redwood Valley, 3rd: Middle Path, 4th: Chester’s Wish

Stewards' Report

Acting on veterinary advice that Lagacio was lame on its near hind leg, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 9 a.m. on Friday 6 December. In view of this, all bets on Lagacio were ordered to be refunded and betting with bookmakers was re-opened. With the withdrawal of Lagacio, emergency acceptor Greenflashsunset became a runner and was ridden by jockey D. Bheekary.

Antwerp – Approaching the 500 metres, was steadied when close to the heels of Zenzero.

Mark Tapley – Slow to begin. Passing the 1300 metres, was crowded for room and had to be checked, losing its position. Commenced to over-race approaching the 1000 metres. Gave ground to the field from the 400 metres and was not persevered with in the home straight.

Dunzie – Shortly after the start, bumped with Wendylle on a number of occasions. Hung in in the home straight.

Kamadeva – Leaving the 200 metres, was switched to the outside of Zenzero to continue going forward. Hung in in the home straight. Leaving the 75 metres, whilst still hanging in, shifted ground inwards and brushed Zenzero in the closing stages.

Zenzero – Raced fiercely in the middle stages and, when being settled, got its head up and raced ungenerously for some distance. Approaching the 500 metres, threw its head up, resulting in Antwerp, which was following, having to be steadied when close to its heels. Hung out in the early stages of the home straight and inconvenienced Kamadeva, which was improving on its outside and hanging in.

Wendylle – Jumped awkwardly, shifted ground outwards and bumped Dunzie with the latter becoming unbalanced and shifting ground inwards. Shortly after, bumped with Wendylle on a number of occasions. Leaving the 200 metres, was switched to the inside of Antwerp to secure clear running.

Greenflashsunset – Raced fiercely in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.

GENERAL

On inquiry, it was established that passing the 1300 metres Dunzie, when shifting inwards, carried Wendylle onto Mark Tapley with the latter racing tight on the inside of Wendylle. Simultaneously, Head Of The Pack, which was racing on the inside of Mark Tapley, shifted ground outwards resulting in Mark Tapley running out of galloping room and having to be eased, losing its position. The Stewards, being satisfied that no blame could be apportioned to any one rider, decided to not proceed further other than to advise jockeys Rama (Dunzie) and Juglall (Wendylle) to exercise care when riding in races.

Result: 1st: Antwerp, 2nd: Kamadeva, 3rd: Zenzero, 4th: Dunzie

Sentido – Bumped on jumping. Passing the 1200 metres, was cramped for galloping room and had to be checked, losing its position. Vet report: Not striding out.

Choir Of Angels – Passing the 400 metres, was taken out to improve its position and raced wide from then onwards. Commenced to shift ground inwards from approaching the 200 metres and passing the 200 metres, was switched to the inside of Zodiac Jack to continue going forward.

Jals Tiger – Approaching the 450 metres, was taken out from behind Zodiac Jack to improve its position and, in doing so, carried Captain Falcon wider on the track.

The Right Stuff – Jumped awkwardly, brushed the right side of its gate and made contact with Skip The Red. Approaching the 1300 metres, shifted ground inwards and bumped with Over Sure, then shifted ground outwards onto Sentido, which was being carried in and then eased to avoid the heels of Sentido and became unbalanced for a stride. Came off the crossing at the 1000 metres awkwardly. Approaching the 200 metres was switched to the inside of Over Sure to secure clear running.

Captain Falcon – Jumped awkwardly and brushed the left side of its gate. Carried wide passing the 450 metres and into the home straight.

Over Sure – Slow to begin and shortly after, when being settled, threw its head up and raced ungenerously for some distance. Brushed with The Right Stuff passing the 1300 metres. Passing the 1000 metres, commenced to over-race and threw its head up. Leaving the 200 metres, shifted ground inwards and near the 150 metres was straightened to avoid inconveniencing The Right Stuff, which was improving on its inside. Vet report: Bled both nostrils.

Skip The Red – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out, bumping Sentido, thereafter shifted inwards and was bumped by The Right Stuff.

Carlas Mambo – Fractious in its gate prior to the start being effected.

Slightly Scottish – Vet report: Not striding out.

GENERAL

a) On inquiry, it was established that passing the 1300 metres, The Right Stuff was forced to check when awkwardly placed between Sentido and Over Sure, which had shifted out marginally and carried The Right Stuff onto the heels of Sentido which was shifting ground inwards when racing tight on the inside of Carlas Mambo. The Stewards, being satisfied that no blame could be apportioned to any rider, decided not to proceed further other than to advise jockey Sooful (Carlas Mambo) to exercise care when riding in races.

b) On inquiry, it was established that passing the 1200 metres, Sentido became cramped for galloping room and had to be checked, losing its position when Carlas Mambo shifted ground inwards despite jockey Sooful’s attempt to keep this gelding straight, simultaneously, Captain Falcon improved on its outside and shifted inwards marginally. The Stewards, being satisfied that no blame could be apportioned to any one rider, decided to not proceed any further other than to advise apprentice Louis (Captain Falcon) to exercise care when riding in races.

Result: 1st: Choir Of Angels, 2nd: Jals Tiger, 3rd: Zodiac Jack, 4th: The Right Stuff

Stewards' Report

Acting on veterinary advice that Rob Roy was suffering from a swollen near side hock, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at noon today. In view of this, all bets on Rob Roy were ordered to be refunded and betting with bookmakers was re-opened.

Correct weight was withheld for the Stewards to review the video replays of the home straight. It was established that leaving the 200 metres, Vision Of Trust commenced to shift ground inwards under pressure, resulting in Arctic Flyer, which was following, having to be switched to its outside to continue going forward and following that incident, Vision Of Trust continued to shift ground inwards before being straightened, then from leaving the 100 metres commenced to shift ground inwards again, slightly inconveniencing Trojan Quest, which was improving on its inside, over the concluding stages. The Stewards, considering the ground covered and the margin at the finish, decided to not proceed further and correct weight was declared on the Judges’ semaphored numbers. Jockey Sooful (Vision Of Trust) was severely reprimanded and advised that he is to straighten his mounts sooner than he did on this occasion.

Arctic Flyer – Hung in in the home straight.

Barak Lavan – Approaching the 600 metres, momentarily raced tight on the inside of Trojan Quest and brushed the running rail.

A P Strike – Slow to begin. Hung in in the home straight. Vet report: Not striding out.

Gat Henshaw – Slow to begin and proved reluctant to gallop, losing considerable ground.

Trojan Quest – Inconvenienced slightly in the closing stages.

Riding Shotgun – Slow into stride. Approaching the 450 metres, shifted out abruptly despite jockey Teeha’s attempt to straighten it, where this gelding failed to properly negotiate the turn and commenced to give ground. When questioned, jockey Teeha explained that this gelding hung out throughout the race and that approaching the 450 metres, when endeavouring to control it, the bit pulled through its mouth with him having difficulty in properly assisting his mount from then onwards. Assistant Trainer P. Seesurrun was advised on behalf of trainer G. Rousset that he should fit this gelding with better equipment in future.

Secret Idea – Slow to begin.

Vision Of Trust – Jumped inwards, brushing the right side of its gate. Hung in over the concluding stages.

Result: 1st: Vision Of Trust, 2nd: Trojan Quest, 3rd: Arctic Flyer, 4th: Barak Lavan

Jockey Bhaugeerothee expressed concerns about the action of The Tripster whilst cantering down to the start. The gelding was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and found to be lame on its off fore leg. Acting on veterinary advice, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at the start. All bets on The Tripster were ordered to be refunded and winning bets with bookmakers were paid less 2 cents per rupee, the average price of The Tripster being 37/1.

Dreamforest – Slow to begin. Shortly after, was crowded for room.

Brilliant Crimson – Slow to begin. Was taken out from approaching the 450 metres. Was not persevered with over the concluding stages.

Tower Of Wisdom – Shortly after the start, when being urged forward, shifted ground inwards and was bumped on its hindquarters by Rock On Geordies, becoming unbalanced and shifted ground inwards despite jockey Juglall’s attempt to straighten it. Approaching the 250 metres, was taken to the outside of Promissory to improve its position and raced wide rounding the home turn.

Promissory – Leaving the 900 metres, when the pace slackened, became awkwardly placed close to the heels of Itdawnedonme and was taken out to avoid its heels.

Racing For Fun – Threw its head on jumping and was slow to begin.

The Byzantine – Jumped outwards. Passing the 300 metres, for a short distance, was held up when unable to improve from behind Tower Of Wisdom. Shifted ground outwards over the concluding stages.

Rock On Geordies – Slow to begin and shortly after, was cramped for room on the inside of Tower Of Wisdom.

Well Connected – Leaving the 300 metres, for some distance, was held up when unable to improve from behind Itdawnedonme. Approaching the 200 metres was switched to the inside of Itdawnedonme to secure clear running.

Result: 1st: The Byzantine, 2nd: Tower Of Wisdom, 3rd: Itdawnedonme, 4th: Well Connected

Argo Solo – Slow to begin.

Henry Tudor – Stumbled on jumping. Shifted in passing the 1300 metres. Raced fiercely and threw its head up in the middle stages. Passing the 800 metres, threw its head when being eased to avoid the heels of Chili Con Carne.

Pera Palace – Shortly after the start, raced in restricted room for some distance between Lanza and Virtue. Passing the 1300 metres, was cramped for galloping room and had to be severely checked, losing its position.

Virtue – Passing the 1300 metres, was carried onto Pera Palace, resulting in the latter having to be checked severely and losing its position. Hung in in the home straight. Vet report: Lame off fore.

Chili Con Carne – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide in the early stages. Hung in throughout.

Lanza – Crowded onto Pera Palace shortly after the start.

Alaadel – Jumped awkwardly and shifted ground outwards, crowding Lanza onto Pera Palace. Raced fiercely in the middle stages and approaching the 700 metres, was taken out to avoid the heels of Lanza.

Zud Wes – Jumped awkwardly, stumbled shortly after the start and shifted in, bumping Chili Con Carne. Thereafter, was taken across to race behind runners.





GENERAL

On inquiry, jockey Sooful (Henry Tudor) pleaded guilty to a contravention of MTC Rule 160 A (f) in that passing the 1300 metres, he carelessly allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Virtue, carrying the latter inwards onto Pera Palace, resulting in Pera Palace being severely checked and losing its position. He is suspended from riding in races for two Mauritian race meetings.

Result: 1st: Virtue, 2nd: Lanza, 3rd: Chili Con Carne, 4th: Henry Tudor

Prior to this race, Zaratos reared over in the parade ring. This gelding was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to run.

Uncle JB – Raced wide throughout.

Midnight Oracle – Slow to begin. Approaching the 150 metres was switched to the outside of Avail to secure clear running.

Zaratos – Fractious in its gate prior to the start being effected. Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin.

Avail – Slow to begin. Shortly after, was crowded onto Manetheren. Passing the 400 metres, was taken out to improve its position and raced wide from then onwards.

Man From Seattle – Raced wide throughout. Leaving the 450 metres, was taken out to improve its position and raced very wide rounding the home turn.

Moschino – Jumped awkwardly and shifted ground outwards, crowding Avail onto Manetheren. Approaching the 1450 metres, commenced to race fiercely and, when being eased to avoid the heels of Manetheren, got its head up and raced ungenerously for some distance. Passing the 800 metres, when still racing fiercely, clipped the heels of Manetheren and stumbled. Approaching the 600 metres, was taken out and allowed to stride forward to secure a position closer to the lead and raced wide from then onwards.

Mr Green Street – Leaving the 1200 metres, had to be eased when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Kings Empire. Passing the 200 metres, was switched to the inside of Kings Empire to secure clear running.



GENERAL

Jockey David (Moschino) signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of MTC Rule 160 A (h) in that he used his whip in an excessive manner in the home straight. He was fined Rs.5,000.

Stewards' Report

Correct weight was withheld for the Stewards to review the video replays of the home straight. It was established that leaving the 200 metres, when being ridden with the whip, Manolete commenced to shift ground outwards, carrying Sarah’s Secret, which was racing on its outside, outwards with Sarah’s Secret being slightly inconvenienced, The Stewards, taking into consideration the degree of the interference suffered and the margin at the finish, decided not to proceed further and correct weight was declared on the Judges’ semaphored numbers.

Anza-Borrego – Proved very difficult to load. Approaching the 150 metres, commenced to shift ground outwards.

Sarah’s Secret – Slightly inconvenienced near the 150 metres.

After The Order – Leaving the 1200 metres, had to be checked when cramped for galloping room on the inside of Very Vary. Passing the 400 metres was momentarily tightened for room on the inside of Very Vary.

Italian Way – Slow to begin. Shortly after, made contact with Sierra Redwood. Carried wide passing the 1200 metres. Made the turn into the home straight in a wide position.

Sierra Redwood – Jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. Shortly after, made contact with Italian Way. Raced fiercely in the early stages.

Very Vary – Brushed the left side of its gate on jumping. Raced wide in the early stages. Shifted in momentarily passing the 400 metres.

Manolete – Approaching the 150 metres, commenced to shift ground outwards, slightly inconveniencing Sarah’s Secret.

Northern Rebel – Stood flat footed, being slow to begin.

Seventh Silver – Approaching the 1200 metres, commenced to over-race and, when being eased to avoid the heels of After The Order, threw its head, racing ungenerously and had to be taken out and, in doing so, carried Night Chapel and Italian Way, which were following, wider on the track. Thereafter, continued to over-race and, when being settled, threw its head sideways. Was taken out from approaching the 450 metres.

Night Chapel – Raced wide in the early stages. Over-raced in the middle stages.

GENERAL

On inquiry, jockey Ghunowa (Very Vary) pleaded guilty to a contravention of MTC Rule 160 A (f) in that leaving the 1200 metres, he carelessly allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of After The Order, resulting in the latter running out of galloping room and having to be checked. He is suspended from riding in races for two Mauritian race meetings.

Result: 1st: Anza-Borrego, 2nd: Manolete, 3rd: Sarah’s Secret, 4th: After The Order

a) Pre-race blood specimens were taken for analysis from all runners.

b) Routine post-race urine and blood specimens were taken for analysis from all winners.
