Shortly after the start Bearing Gold and Almahab bumped. At the 1300 metres Fashion Port hung in away from Match The Market and in doing so crowded Catchadane onto Bearing Gold which then had to be checked, shortly after Fashion Port continued to hung in and crowded Catchadane onto the heels of Almahab. In Her Honour was slow to begin. Green Scheme jumped awkwardly, shifted in brushing Mgabaduli. At the 1250 metres Match The Market checked from the heels of Mgabaduli which was shifting ground inwards. Jockey Emamdee, the rider of Mgabaduli, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MTC Rule 160 (e) and was subsequently fined Rs.20,000. At the 1000 metres Optimum Josh steadied from the heels of Match The Market. Green Scheme raced wide from the 800 metres. At the 500 metres Bearing Gold dipped. Approaching the 400 metres Almahab steadied from the heels of Fashion Port. In Her Honour was taken wide rounding the home turn. At the 100 metres Catchadane rolled out, brushing Green Scheme. Over the concluding stages Bearing Gold had difficulty in obtaining clear running on the inside of Fashion Port.

Routine urine specimen was taken for analysis from Match The Market after the race.
