Another golden opportunity for Rousset Stable

We have just witnessed a cracking finish in the Phoenix Maiden Cup and we are already back in business for the 24th race meeting, scheduled for this coming Saturday.

The main event of this meeting is the Cernol Chemicals 40th Anniversary Cup, a 1650m race. Eight entries have been received by The Mauritius Turf Club for this event, among which is that of Disa leader, the crack of Gilbert Rousset Stable and Four Year Old Champion.

In fact, Disa Leader will have to fight his own war against all the other horses and with 61kg on her back, he will give weight to all her opponents. They are namely Seattle Ice, Bright Stone, Winter Wind. Anti-Freeze, Galant Gagnant, Solar Orbit and Stunning Do. However, they will also struggle to gun down Disa Leader even though it is sometimes thought that a heavy handicap can conquer a true champion.

Disa Leader will break from barrier 5 and Bright Stone, who has registered two outstanding wins, from barrier 4. Anti-Freeze, Galant Gagnant, and Seattle Ice have inherited barriers 3, 2 and 1 respectively. Seattle Ice has not been convincing up to now but he cannot be judged solely on his recent outings.

He was not really fitness-fit and should thus not be overlooked.
Galant Gagnant has also been entered in the 7th race, a longer event (1850m) and tomorrow trainer Ramapatee Gujadhur will make a decision as to which race is more appropriate for his horse’s abilities. Winter Wind, Solar Orbit and Stunning Do will face the starter in barriers 6, 7 and 8 respectively.

After a successful The Maiden Cup, Glbert Rousset Stable has another golden opportunity of making it two in a row by winning yet another feature race with Disa leader. Another win will consolidate the stable’s first position in The Phoenix Stables Championship leaderboard.
