Several trainers have contacted apprentice Jessen Vyapooree to ride on Saturday for the 18th Meeting of the 2010 season. These trainers have made their requests through the Racing Stewards of The Mauritius Turf Club.
Thus, Jessen Vyapooree will make his debut at The Champ de Mars on Saturday. A moment that he will never forget. «Riding at The Champ de Mars is the dream of every Mauritian apprentice. I have been lucky to start my career in South Africa. It hasn’t been easy for me as I had to make a lot of sacrifice. I know that that I have a long way to go but I also know that I’m on the right track. Riding at The Champ de Mars is a moment that I’ve always been waiting for! I just hope to be able to deliver the goods. Honestly, I would like to return back to South Africa with at least a win in my bag. I’m motivated and I’ll do my best to visit the winner’s enclosure at least once on Saturday » he said.
Jesseen Vyapooree has already bagged 13 winners and his apprenticeship ends in eight months time. He will then continue to ride in South Africa to improve his riding. Being still an apprentice with 13 winners, he will claim 4kg.
On Saturday, Jessen Vyapooree could ride Aussie Rulz, Dunedin Star, Black Eyes and Mighty Fine if his participation is confirmed in the third race, a 1365m sprint. Trainer Serge Henry has also said that he could give him one or two rides.
Saturday will thus be a very important date for Jessen Vyapooree and we wish him the best of luck.
