Cantering to the barriers, Mighty Hash brushed the outside rail. It was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race.

Aspara and Apres Ski were slow to begin. Shortly after, Aspara was inconvenienced by Sierra Redwood, which had shifted out on jumping. From its wide draw My Boy Willie and Arctic Flyer were taken across to race behind runners. Rock On jumped awkwardly and shifted out, brushing Mighty Hash with jockey Ségeon’s having to readjust his foot in his near side stirrup. Zen Master raced wide in the early stages. Mighty Hash raced wide in the early and middle stages. From leaving the 900 metres Aspara and Rock On raced in restricted room on the inside of Mighty Hash. Apprentice Ramsamy (Mighty Hash) was shown the video replays of the incident, severely reprimanded and told that he should at all times allow enough room for horses on his inside. Approaching the 400 metres Zen Master was taken out from behind Apres Ski and, in doing so, carried Mighty Hash wider on the track. Zen Master and Arctic Flyer raced wide rounding the home turn. Approaching the 200 metres Mighty Hash ducked in sharply away from the whip, crowding Rock On, which was improving on its inside, and carrying it onto the heels of My Boy Willie with Rock On having to be checked. Near the 150 metres Ready For Take Off shifted out under pressure, resulting in Aspara, which was improving behind it, having to be switched to the inside to continue going forward. The Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Rock On lost its near fore shoe during the run.

Rock Hard, The Deacon and Kentucky Bluegrass were slow to begin. Shortly after the start, Rock Hard was inconvenienced when tight between League Of Legends and Carson City, which had been carried out by Bezamod. Carson City raced wide in the early and middle stages. Leaving the 1000 metres The Deacon was taken out and allowed to stride forward to secure a position closer to the lead. Approaching the 400 metres Rock Hard was taken out to improve its position and raced wide from then onwards. Near the 350 metres Nadas was taken out to improve its position and raced wide rounding the home turn. Passing the 200 metres Dark Liability was taken to the inside of League Of Legends to continue going forward. When questioned, jockey Poullis explained that he was instructed to urge League Of Legends forward to endeavour to secure the lead and if in the lead to let his mount run in its pace and move leaving the 450 metres as League Of Legends is a one pacer. He explained that after jumping fairly he urged his mount forward vigorously so as to ride as per instructions. He added that passing the 1300 metres he found himself racing on the outside of the leader with jockey Emamdee insisting, as such he elected to sit on its outside and, when jockey Emamdee restrained his mount approaching the 1100 metres, he then allowed League Of Legends to stride forward to secure the lead. Trainer Daby concurred and explained that in his opinion League Of Legends was just disappointing. The Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that The Deacon was not striding out properly after the race.

Street Boy jumped awkwardly and shifted out, brushing the left side of its gate. Mambo jumped outwards, bumping Blunderbuss, resulting in jockey Joorawon becoming unbalanced. Shortly after the start, when being urged forward, Ocean Drive South shifted in, crowding Cape Horn onto Galtero. Jockey Poullis (Ocean Drive South) was shown the video replays of the incident, reprimanded and told that he should straighten his mounts earlier than he did on this occasion. From approaching the 1100 metres Galtero commenced to over-race and, when being restrained, threw its head and raced ungenerously for some distance. Approaching the 100 metres Cape Horn shifted in under pressure, inconveniencing Street Boy passing the 75 metres, with the latter having to steady over one stride. Jockey Arnold (Cape Horn) was shown the video replays of the incident, reprimanded and told that in future he should straighten his mounts sooner than he did on this occasion. The bandage on Galtero became loose during the run. Trainer Jones was told that he should make sure that bandages are properly fitted on his horses in future.

Rebel’s Game was slow to begin. Maestro’s Salute was slow to begin and shortly after was bumped and taken in by Gameloft, which had jumped inwards. Passing the 1000 metres, After Midnight had to steady when awkward close to the heels of In Your Dreams. Suzie’s Arrow, which was following, also had to steady. Near the 350 metres Kurundu was taken out to improve its position and raced wide rounding the home turn. When questioned with regard to the poor performance of Suzie’s Arrow, jockey Goomany explained that the gelding had pleased in the lead up to the race and as such was expecting a good run from the latter. He added that when the pace slackened approaching the 1000 metres his mount over-raced slightly but then raced relaxed and when asked for an effort leaving the 400 metres failed to quicken, being disappointing. A subsequent veterinary examination of Suzie’s Arrow revealed no abnormality.

The track was upgraded to 2.8 after the running of this race.

Promissory jumped outwards, crowding Forward Drive onto Glen Coco. Nottinghamshire and Sunset Breeze also jumped outwards. Strum was slow to begin and shortly after was inconvenienced close to the heels of Sunset Breeze, which had shifted out. Glen Coco raced wide in the early stages and approaching the 1200 metres was eased to secure a position one off the fence behind Forward Drive. Passing the 1100 metres Promissory, which was over-racing, had difficulty in negotiating the turn and shifted out when being restrained, carrying Glen Coco wider on the track. Sunset Breeze, which was following, was inconvenienced and had to be steadied when awkward close to its heels. Sunset Breeze then shifted out, carrying Glen Coco wider on the track with the latter having to be eased to secure a position closer to the fence. Following this incident, Promissory continued to over-race, proving difficult to control. When questioned, jockey Dillon (Glen Coco) explained that leaving the 1100 metres his mount was taken out by Sunset Breeze, as such he elected to bring it back in order to cover less ground and from leaving the 600 metres raced tight on the inside of the latter with his mount resenting going forward and faltering on a couple of occasions. He added that seeing that he was further back in the field than expected, leaving the 200 metres he decided to secure an inside run, however as he switched his mount to the inside, Promissory also shifted in. He further added that leaving the 100 metres Nottinghamshire shifted out under pressure, resulting in him having to bring his mount to the inside of the latter to continue going forward. He also said that Glen Coco only quickened fairly and was disappointing.

Open Heir and Sheer Trouble were slow to begin. Approaching the 1300 metres Sheer Trouble had to be eased when crowded for room on the inside of. Jockey Pengelly (Memphis Mafia) was shown the video replays of the incident and told that in future he should make sure that he is clear before shifting ground. Ole Gunner raced wide in the early and middle stages. Leaving the 1365 metres Belong To Me shifted in abruptly close to the heels of Ryder Cup. When questioned, jockey Bussunt (Belong To Me) explained that he realised there was a gap on the inside of Ryder Cup and was biding his time before taking it in as Ryder Cup was not fully clear. He added that his mount shifted in abruptly, surprising him. Jockey Bussunt was severely reprimanded. From leaving the 1300 metres Belong To Me commenced to over-race and was awkward close to the heels of Ryder Cup for some distance. Ole Gunner hung out from leaving the 450 metres. The Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Everest was lame on the near fore leg.

Line Of Sight threw its head and was slow out. Shortly after the start Prince George, when being urged forward, shifted out and brushed the hindquarters of Apple Jack with the latter becoming unbalanced, being turned sideways and shifting in. At the same time, when being urged forward, Chosen Path carried In The Trenches outwards onto Prince George, with Prince George becoming cramped for galloping room and having to be checked. Passing the 1200 metres Golden Ball was eased to secure a position on the fence behind Chosen Path. Apple Jack, which was following, had to be eased when awkward close to its heels. Near the 350 metres In The Trenches was taken out from behind Golden Ball to improve its position and, in doing so, carried All Magic wider on the track. Leaving the 250 metres Apple Jack shifted in under pressure, resulting in Golden Ball, which was following, being disappointed for a run between Chosen Path and Apple Jack and being switched to the inside of Chosen Path to continue going forward. Over the concluding stages Chosen Path shifted out under pressure. The Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Apple Jack lost its off fore shoe during the run.

My Man Alex, Sea Pass and Max The Man were slow to begin. Shortly after the start My Man Alex and Max The Man were taken across to race behind runners. From approaching the 700 metres Mojo G was taken out from behind Noordhoek Ice and carried Halabaloo wider on the track with Halabaloo racing wide from then onwards. Newsman was taken out passing the 450 metres and raced wide from then onwards. Leaving the 200 metres Sea Pass was taken to the inside of Captain’s Orders to secure clear running. The Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Mojo G was not striding out properly after the race.
