1st Race (0-25)
The yard of Vincent Allet is on a hot run of form and #6 EIGHT CITIES can continue this. He has appeared on the podium in his first two races this season and a big run is forthcoming here. #3 Napoli was second best in his latest and is capable of going one better this time round. #8 Redwood Valley scored a brilliant win last time out. He remains well and is not prevented from confirming. #4 Starsky has benefited from his seasonal debut and as he is in better shape, he can go close. #7 Silver Rock produced an encouraging showing in his previous attempt and makes appeal in this contest. #5 Chap Trap and #2 Bear Hug are two good place bets.
Top Tip: #6 EIGHT CITIES
Danger: #3 Napoli
Dark Horse: #4 Starsky

2nd Race (B.31 – 1500m)
#1 POP THE QUESTION gets the vote here. He produced a strong finish in his latest, getting 3rd, 0.8 lengths behind From The Ashes, who went on to double the score. He has shown up very well in training and will have Darryl Holland on board for the first time. #9 Till Dawn has made a genuine start to life in Mauritius, even if he has finished a close second to both Varside and Mind Blowing. Well-trained, he can make it third time lucky. #5 Jet Path comes into this race unbeaten. He will try his luck in a higher class, but he is not prevented from completing his hat-trick. #3 Newsman is down a Benchmark and running over a longer trip. He merits plenty of respect here. #8 Student Grant and #10 Anton Ruskin are two good place bets.
Top Tip: #1 POP THE QUESTION
Danger: #9 Till Dawn
Dark Horse: #3 Newsman

3rd Race (B.46)
#8 IN YOUR DREAMS gave it a good go in his previous run where he finished runner-up to Borya. He has benefited from that run and is taken to go one better. #7 Secret Idea runs well fresh and as he is usually consistent, he is rated as a big runner here. #5 Sky High Flyer returns from a long break. He has steadily progressed at track work and with Olivier Placais on board for the first time, he merits consideration. #3 Jals Tiger is far better than what he served up last time out. He should be right in the mix here. For the lower placings, #1 Ocean Drive South and #2 Glorious Goodwood are good contenders.
Top Tip: #8 IN YOUR DREAMS
Danger: #7 Secret Idea
Dark Horse: #5 Sky High Flyer

4th Race (B.51)
#4 YANKEEDOODLEDANDY renewed with success in his latest, thanks to a well-judged ride from Olivier Placais. He remains in excellent condition and can double the score. #3 Moonrise Sensation completed the podium in his seasonal debut, a remarkable result considering he was running over the 1450 metres. He will appreciate the additional 200 metres and can give the selection an almighty fright. #1 Alshibaa has come out very well from his seasonal debut. In vastly improved condition, he is worth a thought. #9 Red Line Captain may not have confirmed in his latest, but he still did enough to land 3rd place. He makes plenty of appeal in this contest. #5 Inn A Million is a newcomer at Shirish Narang’s yard. A stayer type, he has arrived with an interesting reputation and must be watched closely here.
Top Tip: #4 YANKEEDOODLEDANDY
Danger: #3 Moonrise Sensation
Dark Horse: #8 Red Line Captain

5th Race (55+)
Preference is for #3 NOTTINGHAMSHIRE in this elite race. He was set off as favourite in the Noble Salute Cup, but had to settle for the final podium spot. Well-trained, he can strike. #5 Al Mariachi was second best to Baritone in his seasonal debut. He has been entered in this race instead of the main event and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him bounce back. #2 Yankee Captain completed the quartet last time out, a good result considering he was running over a very short trip. He merits tons of respect in this, particularly as he has landed the perfect draw. Stable mate #1 Karraar would have preferred a longer trip but it would be wrong to put a line through his chances. #4 Ernie ended his long winless drought in his latest, setting a new distance record over the 1450 metres in the process. He is not prevented from confirming. Similar comments apply to #7 Prince Of Thieves, winner of the Noble Salute Cup, while #6 Black Cat Back finally makes his debut and must be watched closely.
Top Tip: #3 NOTTINGHAMSHIRE
Danger: #5 Al Mariachi
Dark Horse: #4 Ernie

6Th Race – The Ricardo Fast Food Mauritius Derby Trial Cup (Group 3)
It is not outlandish to suggest that #2 WHITE RIVER is a near-certainty of the meeting. He took out the Duchess Of York Cup in style and as he returns to competition in top order, he looks an extremely tough nut to crack. #3 Kazaar has benefited from his much-needed debut run. This Patrick Merven-trained gelding is in better shape and can give the overwhelming favourite a run for his money. #1 Woljayrine ran on improvement in his latest, even if he was beaten late on by Prince Of Thieves. He can be right in the mix here. #5 Why Wouldn’t Yew is back from a long rest. He has worked well and with only 52kg on his back, he is rated as a decent outsider.
Top Tip: #2 WHITE RIVER
Danger: #3 Kazaar
Dark Horse: #5 Why Wouldn’t Yew

7th Race (B.36)
Can #1 AFDEEK make it third time lucky? He finished 3rd in his seasonal debut, before losing a heated ding-dong with Mind Blowing last time out. This Ricky Maingard-trained gelding is in top order and is capable of setting the record straight. #3 Texas Sky built on his promising debut by doing even better, as he produced a cracker to earn his first win here. It won’t be a surprise to see him double the score in this. #5 Midnight Oracle was unplaced in the 5th meeting. He can do a lot better and is expected to make his presence felt in this contest. #7 Aspara is in vastly superior form compared to his seasonal debut. He has been drawn in the ace and is rated as a big player here. #4 Viking Trail is a newcomer at Patrick Merven’s yard and having shown a lot of promise in his workouts, he can lay down a marker at the first time of asking.
Top Tip: #1 AFDEEK
Danger: #3 Texas Sky
Dark Horse: #7 Aspara

8th Race (B.31 – 990m)
A good-looking contest to close the meeting. #1 A P Strike was unlucky not to strike last time out. He has eyes on bouncing back and is more than capable of doing so. #8 Flying Arrow is a newcomer at Gilbert Rousset’s yard. He has shown up very well in his trials and can make an instant visit to the winner’s enclosure at the first time of asking. #7 ROMAN DANCER also makes his debut in this contest. Trained by Ramapatee Gujadhur, he has arrived with an eye-catching reputation and has excelled in his workouts. A big run is forthcoming from him. #3 Gordonstoun failed to confirm his promising debut. He is worth another look and should be thereabouts.
Top Tip: #7 ROMAN DANCER
Danger: #8 Flying Arrow
Dark Horse: #3 Gordonstoun
