The Murwillumbah racecourse is literally underwater following an incredible 159mm of rain on Thursday.

The inland NSW town, located 13km south of Queensland border, is based on Tweed River which makes it susceptible to flooding.

Not surprisingly, the thoroughbred meeting set down for Murwillumbah next Thursday has been moved to Coffs Harbour.

Jockey Michael Hellyer posted a photo (below) of the track's winning post poking just above the floodwater on Friday afternoon.
