Italian jockey Umberto Rispoli has survived a close encounter with what he described as a 'Shark Horse' while riding in a race at Happy Valley on Wednesday night.
Rispoli, who is currently based in Hong Kong, was piloting Patriot Hero in race seven - the Tan Shan River Hcp (1650m) - when Mister Monte tried to savage his mount.
The incident occurred with around 75m to run, when both horses were out of contention.
Mister Monte, ridden by Australian jockey Tommy Berry, turned his head abruptly to the left and did his best So Si Bon impression, seemingly making contact with Rispoli's whip-carrying hand.
Rispoli, not surprisingly, attempted to fend off Mister Monte's unwanted advances by having a swipe at the rogue galloper with his whip.
Stewards later spoke with Rispoli regarding his 'swipe' but no official action was taken.
As for Mister Monte, stewards ruled that he must trial satisfactorily prior to being permitted to race again.
